The New EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the most important change in data privacy regulation in 20 years.
It is a complex topic and many have heard about it recently. However, with the right guidance, it will be easy to understand and quickly learn the right steps to become compliant.
After four years of preparation and debate the GDPR was finally approved by the EU Parliament on 14 April 2016 and is in force since 25 May 2018. From now on, companies in the EU and companies in third countries storing data of EU citizens or companies may face heavy fines if non-compliant. The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was designed to harmonize data privacy laws across Europe, to protect and empower all EU citizens data privacy and to reshape the way organizations approach data privacy.
The GDPR not only applies to organisations located within the EU but it will also apply to organisations located outside of the EU if they offer goods or services to, or monitor the behaviour of, EU data subjects. It applies to all companies processing and holding the personal data of data subjects residing in the European Union, regardless of the company's location.
If you are based in Vietnam but fall within that category, you are obliged to comply with GPDR. But doing so is definitely within your reach.
EuroCham will organise two editions of this Workshop, whereby experts will guide companies through the fundamentals of GDPR and provide concise information on how companies can become compliant.
