More than a year and a half since COVID-19 first emerged, a number of countries in Asia, Europe, USA and Singapore are coming back to their normal production and life. Nearly 4 months since different types of lock-down imposed in 16 Southern provinces including HCMC and Binh Duong, but not yet a declaration of passing by the peak of pandemic has been seen. Lack of cohesion in policies by central and provincial level that has caused more problems for enterprises and people.
Join EuroCham at this event to gain insights on:
- Strategy towards fighting against the pandemic: Should the double targets to have economic development and pandemic control at the same time be on the stage again?
- Measures to support local and foreign companies to resume their production including fiscal and financial policies including tax reduction, tax holiday as well as human resources support etc…
- A large population of poor and near poor citizens (including workers from industrial zones and people whose livings depend on the street activities) has been living in difficulties in the last 4 months. What are social policies to help this group?
- Assessment of the current and possible response by foreign investors to the current situation in Viet Nam: Is there any re-direction or withdrawal by foreign investors and clients from Viet Nam? Before taking the current post as Country Chairman of Jardine Matheson in 2007, he held different senior positions in HSBC including the CEO of HSBC in Vietnam. Alain is the Board of Vinamilk, REE Corp. He was awarded Officer of The French National Merit Order and Knight of The Legion of Honor by the President of France and the Friendship Medal by the Prime Minister of Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh
Economist
Thanh is currently a senior lecturer in public policy at Fulbright University Vietnam and a senior fellow at the Ash Center for Democratic Governance & Innovation, Harvard Kennedy School. Thanh has twenty-five years of experience in designing and implementing macroeconomic policy. He is a member of the Economic Advisory Group of the Prime Minister of Vietnam. Thanh also serves as the independent director on the board of Standard Chartered Bank Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Duong
Director, Department for General Economic Issues and Integration Studies, Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM)
Mr. NGUYEN Anh Duong holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Master of Economics, both from the Australian National University (Australia). He joined the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM) – the leading think-tank in Viet Nam – in 2004. Currently being the Director of the Department for General Economic Issues and Integration Studies, Mr. Nguyen has various important research papers and policy recommendations to the government of Viet Nam on macroeconomic policies and integration process.
Mr. Nguyen is also Viet Nam’s official representative to the Economic Committee, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, where he acts as the coordinator of the Friends-of-the-Chair (FotC) group on Corporate Law and Governance since 2011. He also leads Viet Nam’s agenda for structural reforms under APEC framework. Mr. Nguyen is currently coordinating the preparation of APEC agenda for post-2020 structural reform.
