A common problem for women in the workplace in Vietnam is lack of respect, and harassment. However, there have been some recent positive developments. Notably, the latest version of the draft Labour Code provides a definition of sexual harassment and includes sexual harassment as a ground for dismissal. We will discuss the challenges in practically implementing this legislation, possible solutions and recommendations for further legislative changes.

Sarah is a Canadian-trained lawyer registered with the Department of Justice in Vietnam with over 10 years of professional experience in legal services. Sarah has been based in Vietnam for approximately five years, working as an employment lawyer. She has expertise on contentious employment matters such as dismissals and the negotiation of separation agreements, as well as non-contentious matters such as the drafting of employment contracts, internal labour regulations, service agreements and consultancy agreements. Sarah also advises on employment issues in relation to global asset and share transactions.
